My name is Ms. Allison. I am originally from Ohio, but have grown to enjoy
Washington, DC. I have been teaching physics at Thurgood Marshall
Academy for seven years and I am excited about another fun-filled year of
learning physics. I attended Bowling Green State University in Ohio for my
undergraduate work. I spent a year in Ghana, West Africa teaching children
science and adults about sexual health related to HIV/ AIDS prevention. I
earned my Masters Degree in Teaching from American University in 2010.
I spent a year in medical school, but in my heart I knew that I wanted to
teach. Although teaching does not bring the income or status of a
physician, I love coming to work each day! It is great to watch the light
bulb switch on! Whether it be students understanding a specific concept in
physics or having a conversation about the social implication of science, it
is a joy to be a part of students' lives as they develop to become
reflective and critically thinking individuals.
