My name is Kimberly Hill and I have a BA in Early Childhood Education and a
minor in Bible from Cedarville University in Cedarville, Ohio and a MA in
Educational Leadership from the University of Cincinnati in Cincinnati, Ohio.
I began teaching in Ohio, first as a long term substitute then as an team
teacher in a small charter school that serves children who have been diagnosed
with Asperger's Syndrome, AD/HD and other related disorders. In 2006 my
husband and I moved to the DC area and I began working as a Pre-K teacher at
Community Academy Public Charter School (CAPCS). I have been looking for
opportunities outside of the charter school environment and Janney stood out
among all the other schools I looked at. I love to cook/bake and began making
wedding cakes two years ago when my brother-in-law asked me to bake a cake for
his wedding (I had NEVER done anything like it before). This summer I made my
4th wedding cake with a broken wrist and help from my wonderful husband and mom.
Every child is unique therefore it is important that I teach them where they
are. In my class I will work at the beginning of the year to assess where
each child is in order to best meet their individual needs and prepare them to
be successful learners. Working as a team Ms. Franklin and I will teach large
group lessons but then break them down in small groups that best meet
individual needs. These groups will are designed to promote success and
independent learning opportunities for each student. Within these groups Ms.
Franklin and I will be able to assess student successes and rework the groups
as needed.
Our team is composed of myself, Ms. Franklin, you as the parent, and your
child. We will be most successful when all parties work together and it is my
goal to draw upon the depth of the team to provide the best classroom
experience for all my students.
