Volunteer Opportunities

There will be many opportunities if you are interested in being involved with our classroom this year.

  • Room Parents: While there will be many opportunities for volunteering with our classroom, our room parents are important to help coordinate many of our third grade events. Please email me if you are interested in volunteering as a room parent. Depending on the number of volunteers, room parents will be selected on a first-come, first-serve basis.
  •  Field Trips: Continue to read our newsletter and look for upcoming field trips. You can then email me if you are interested in chaperoning any of these trips.
  • Open Houses: You are welcome to join our classroom on the last Friday of every month at the   start of the day. Our open house will be a “glimpse” into the school day in which you will get to see our classroom and how your child’s day begins with unpacking and morning meeting. Open house lasts until 9:00 am.
  •   Holiday Celebrations: We will be looking for volunteers to assist with in class celebrations and donating snacks. Room parents will be contacting you about these opportunities.
  • Donations: You can help out our classroom by donating item from our wish list. Email me or check out the "Wish List page" on the class website for a list of items.
  •  Birthday celebrations: We will celebrate birthdays monthly. You are invited to join us in the  classroom for the celebration and help organize a snack with the other parents from that   month. I will contact you with more information before your celebration.
  • Projects: There will be a variety of projects this year.

o   In Class Projects: Many of our projects will be completed at school. Occasionally we will ask for volunteers to join us in the classroom to help with the completion of an activity. Look for emails from me or our room parents about these opportunities.

o   Materials: To complete some of our in class projects, it would be helpful to have some assistance assembling some materials in advance. Materials will be provided and this can be done at home and sent into school. Please email me (amanda.quirin@dc.gov ) if you are interested in volunteering to help in this way.
