My name is Amanda Quirin and this will be my third year at Janney Elementary. This will also be
my third year as a resident of DC. I grew up in Reading, Pennsylvania with my family. I have a brother
and a sister. I attended Millersville University in Lancaster, Pennsylvania and majored in Elementary
and
Special Education. I am dually certified in Pennsylvania and DC in Elementary and Special Education. I
taught in Pennsylvania before my move to DC. Other than third grade, I previously taught second
grade,
reading support, and 5th and 6th grade autistic support/learning support.
I have really been enjoying living in DC and am always interested in hearing about something new
to do in the city. I love to read in my free time. I always enjoy reading a good book. I also have a
kitten named Max!
I am very excited for another year teaching third grade at Janney!
Ms. Carmen
After working as an intervention specialist with Janney students in grades 3-5 for the past two years,
I
have the privilege this year of working as a co-teacher in grade three with a phenomenal group of
professional women.
I remain a Bostonian at heart, but have been in the DC area for many years after attending college in
Ann Arbor and Evanston and teaching in my hometown of Newton, MA. I have taught grades 3-6 in
public and independent schools in the DC and Baltimore area and have held positions in
administration,
as well. My first love, however, is direct work with students.
When I am not at Janney, I stay very busy with my other passions: reading, cooking, travel, various
forms
of indoor and outdoor exercise, and spending time with good friends and my two sons. I look forward
to
getting to know you and to working with your children this year
Ms. Walsh
Welcome back to another exciting year, Jaguars! My name is Carolyn Walsh and
this will be my second year here at Janney and third year working with third
grade learners! I have taught in Philadelphia and New Jersey prior to my
arrival in Washington, DC. Aside from teaching, I love exploring the city with
friends, and spending time outside whether I’m reading, biking, running,
snowboarding, or simply relaxing.
I am very lucky to come from a large family with three older brothers and
two great parents. My brothers live in San Diego, Los Angeles, and Manhattan,
while my parents hold down the fort in New Jersey. I am itching with
excitement to meet and hear from all of you, August 27th cannot come soon
enough!
