Hi! My name is Ms. Rockwell and I am SO excited to be part of the NEW Kindergarten team! More
importantly, I am THRILLED to be your teacher! It’s going to be a great year full of lots of fun,
learning, and new adventures and I can’t wait to see what the year has in store for us. I want to know
ALL about you, but first I’m going to tell you a few things about me.
I was born out west in Salt Lake City, Utah and moved around for most of my life. I have lived in Utah,
California, South Dakota, Georgia, South Carolina, New York, Florida, Virginia, DC, and now I live in
Bethesda Maryland! I graduated from High School in Florida, and decided to stay at the BEACH to go
to school I attended the University of North Florida… Go OSPREYS! I majored in Early Childhood
Education and couldn’t wait to graduate and start teaching.
I taught First Grade in Florida for one year before moving to DC in 2008 to teach Kindergarten here at
Janney. Having taught first grade will really help me challenge you to reach for the stars this year!
This is my 5th year teaching and last year I was awarded the prestigious “Highly Effective” rating by
DC Public Schools. I also started my Masters degree this past summer. I go to class on Wednesday
nights after teaching you all day long. You all are worth it! I am pursuing a Masters in Curriculum and
Instruction, with a focus to be a Literacy Specialist just like Ms. Khuu, who you will see me working
with throughout the year.
Janney is a busy place with lots of new space (I love to rhyme)! During school time we may have lunch
clubs. I help teach our school about composting and how to keep our school clean. After school you
can find me outside running with the GIRLS ON THE RUN club, which is for girls in 3-5th grade.
I am so excited to be your teacher and for you to be part of this AWESOME, all-star class we have
lined up for Room 108. This is going to be a GREAT year!
