The mission of my Latin students is to learn to read and translate Latin into
English, so that they may read authentic Latin literature. Students will
learn to analyze and interpret Latin texts and will gain a deeper
understanding of Roman culture and history through both Latin and English
reading material, examine connections between Latin and other academic
disciplines, and make cultural comparisons. In the process of learning Latin,
students will also discover the Latin roots present in English words, which
will help them in their other classes, as well as performance on the verbal
portion of the SAT and other standardized test.
