Today is May 24th. Testing for DCAS Surveys This Week.

Last day of classes for the Seniors...Friday May 27th.

May 15, 2011:  More DCAS Testing this week. Dorney Park Trip on Friday.  I 
will not be here on Thursday May 19.  I must take a personal day to take care 
of business at my home.  Most likely the sub will be Ms P.

May 9th, 2011:  Get ready for a busy week.  We will Be conducting DCAS 
Testing this week.  It will be held in your regular Math Or English room and 
Period.

Also, I will be finalizing the April Students Of the Month this Week. Look 
for these late this week (I hope).

Interim Grade for the 4th Marking Period will be sent out early this week.  
Look for them in the mail.  We have lots of material to cover before the end 
of the year so hold on to your planners.  Mr. "D".

April 28th, Spring Break is in full swing.  Now it's time for the Final push 
to the end of school Jun 2011.  We can make it!  Do the best you can with 
what little time you have left to repair or increase your grades.

17 APR 11  The March Students of the Month have been selected and should be 
annouced this week.  Only four days left to Spring Break...everyone just hang 
in there.  Together we can make it a good week.  MR. D.

Presidents Day is Feb 21,  NO SCHOOL 
End of the Interim marking Period is Feb 24th...Get your papers into your 
teachers.

The Jan 2011 Students Of the Month have been selected and should be released 
during the Week of Feb 14.
  
Oct Students of the Month Should be out this week...I appologize for the 
delay in this important event.

On that note...I will be canvasing all staff members on Monday Dec 13 (AM) 
for a quick turn around for the November Student of the Month.

Open Letter to All My Students:

Well here we are...the start of a new school year.  I thought the summer was 
great but it's really wonderful to be back at school again.  Believe it or 
not, but I miss the place when I've been gone too long.  Or maybe I miss the 
students.  Anyway this should prove to be an exciting year for all.  I have 
lots of material to cover with each of you.

For the 11th grade, I will be diving head first into my new "Intro to 
Business" text box initially.  We will be also incorporating the three 
computer modules comprised of Retailing, Business Management, and Personal 
Finance.  Somewhere during the year we will be introducing the Stock Market 
Game.

For those 7th and 8th graders I will be continuing with Computer Literacy 
class.  The length has increased to encompass one half of the school year at 
which time you will then switch over to Art on Monday and Tuesday with Health 
on the remaining days of the week. We will be going into a great deal more 
detail since our time has increased.  This course is designed to get you off 
and running when you hit high school.

For those of you in the Computer Application classes we are going to cover 
the more popular software applications used in business today.  All the 
computers in the school have been updated to Office 2007.  If you know Office 
2003 it is very similar but you will find the button and switches moved 
around on ALL of us.  Some of you will be in your second year and will be 
required to demonstrate more depth and creativity with each assignment.  We 
WILL achieve all the established 
goals together.

As I have in the past, I will be moderating a simulated Stock Market game.  
For some students this will be a small part of their course grade but for 
all involved this will be a fun filled exercise that will hopefully open 
your eyes to the world financial markets.

I require and expect each student to arrive to class on time.  On time means 
that you are in your seat with your books and materials at hand ready to go 
to work or already working before the bell rings.  DON’T come running and 
pushing your way in as the bell rings.  You have three (2) minutes between 
classes which is more than ample time to move from one end of the building 
to the other.  All chairs and tray tables WILL be pushed in to the 
appropriate desk before departing the classroom.  ALL classroom materials 
will be returned to there proper storage area before departing the 
classroom.  Failure to respect classroom rules and standard common sense 
behavior will result in a minimum of lunch detention and escalate from there 
depending on the circumstances and the repetitiveness of the infraction.  
This letter is not intended to be all inclusive to every situation.  I am a 
firm believer in the use of common sense.

I welcome each and every one of you to the POCS family.  Yes, I said family, 
because that is how I feel about OUR school and everyone in it.
