Mrs. Cortes is originally from Denver, Colorado. She graduated from the
University of Arizona Summa Cum Laude on a full academic scholarship with a
B.A. in Spanish, concentrating in Spanish literature. She has lived and
traveled extensively throughout Central America and Spain.
This class will not only focus on the fundamentals of Spanish grammar and
vocabulary, but will also be an experience to broaden your perspectives. The
class will concentrate on the variety of cultures within the Hispanic
community as well as the differences between the structure of the English and
Spanish languages so as to understand how these differences shape our
viewpoints. Students will be challenged to learn language and culture
simultaneously in order to develop concrete skills that they can offer in a
global marketplace where the need for Spanish speakers is evermore increasing.
