About The Teacher

B.S. Troy University / Dauphin Island Sea Lab
      major: marine biology
M.S. University of Southern Mississippi
      major: vertebrate zoology / science education 
Began teaching in 1984: Catholic High, Woodham High, Washington High
Taught vertebrate zoology in the Discovery Hall Program at Dauphin Island 
Sea Lab for seven years
Adjunct biology instructor at PJC for 15 years
Ran the Institute for Coastal and Marine Studies (ICAMS) for 10 years
Current insterest and research: turtles in Northwest Florida; currently 
working on the status of diamondback terrapins in the panhandle. 

Mission For The Class

Courses: Marine Science I, Marine Science II, AP Environmental Science, and 
General Environmental Science 
In each course the primary objective is to prepare the student to succeed in 
college.  Secondly give them a better awareness of how life works on our 
planet and how humans impact these systems.  Thirdly, prepare them to pass 
the FCAT exam.
