Frequently Asked Questions: This page contains answers to common questions of students and parents.
What supplies do I need for Mrs. Spears's English class?
Students should always come prepared to class with an English notebook, divided into 4 sections; extra paper; a writing utensil (pencils for tests); post-it notes are suggested when reading novels or short stories.Back to Top
I grade on a point system. Every assignment has point value, such as 30 points, 50 points, or 100 points. I often write the points earned over points worth (such as 25/30). If the student earns all the points, I will circle the number (30). If you see a single circled number on your paper, you earned all the points that were possible for that assignment. At the end of the nine weeks, I calculate the number of points you earned, and divide it by the number of points possible. The progress reports will clearly reflect your grade.Back to Top
My grades are on the computer, so yes, at any given time I can print a report of your grades. More often than not, I may not have POSTED all the grades on the computer yet. If parents email a request, I will reply asap. Grades can be accessed online; as soon as I have posted new averages, you can input your student number and view your grades from this website.Back to Top
