 Weekly Waltn News
13th edition
What a fun week! Every morning we read a different version of Gingerbread Man. We made our own scratch n sniff gingerbread stories (look for them outside the classroom) We learned that a story can have the same plot, but different ending and different characters. We compared and contrasted, and then came up with our own endings and our own characters for our Gingerbread stories. We will finish writing these on Monday! Every day next week we will be reading a Jan Brett winter themed story. In  Math we spent our time sorting odd shapes, played a secret shape game with our table teams and learned how we can classify shapes based on how curvy and straight they are, how many sides they have, and how many corners there are.
Then the fun really began when we got on our Holiday Express plane with our passports and tickets and traveled over the Atlantic Ocean to Europe. We landed in Germany and spent two days discovering holiday traditions such as the advent calendar, the first Christmas tree, and how to make 'scherenschnitte' . Then we spent two days in Italy where we learned about La Befana and how she delivers gifts to all the children. We learned what the favorite foods in Italy are and we made a special craft to go with our story

VOLUNTEERS:

On Monday, I will be sending home a list of wish items needed for our holiday party. If you would like to donate an item check the box and send it in as soon as you can. Thank you so much for all your help during this festive season. If you would like to volunteer for our party, it will be on the last Friday before break from 11:00 – 12:30. We are making ginger bread houses and it will get messy! We will need at least on parent per table of 4-5 children to help glue (frost) candy on houses. (with clean up after!)  It should be LOTS of FUN!

Thank you!!
