Happy New Year!

Welcome to Fifth Grade!

I am looking forward to meeting all of you at Meet Your Teacher, August 19th and Open House September 8th!

Look over the homework and returned graded papers every Thursday to discuss your child's progress. I will send Progress Reports every other week. Together we can all be supportive of our student's success!

Remember to read each night and sign the binder reading log. 5 points are due each month. The more the student's read, the better reader they will become! Look in their binder for the Accelerated Reader schedule and your student's STAR results for their levels of reading areas.

Also practice the math facts and sign that log each homework night.

We will start with division, and as you know, the multiplication facts are necessary for success. Keep working on them with your student, unless they already know them:).

In Science we will be starting with the Scientific Method. Everyone will be creating a science fair project to show their mastery of that skill due in early November. Start thinking of a good experiment!

Technology is available for the students in the classroom and the students go to the computer lab one day a week. This year again we will also have Mrs. Schmidt teaching Technology 1 day during Specials.
