As January is coming to an end, I am very excited to have held many
conferences to discuss Cycle 2 data. It is always a pleasure to talk with you
about how we can work together to make your child's experience in second
grade even better! If we have not met yet, I am looking forward to seeing you
soon.
Famous Person Report - The reports were due last Friday (unfortunately Owen
and I were home sick), but I was sssoooo pleased this morning to see such
awesome projects! I can tell you all worked hard and also had some fun along
the way!! Your child will be sharing their project with the class sometime
this week. Thank you for your support.
Valentine's Day Celebration - We will be celebrating this holiday on Tuesday,
February 14th. If you would like to donate a snack, please remember that all
items must be sealed and store bought.
Spelling - The second grade teachers have just found out that the 3rd grade
FAIR assessment looks closely at spelling scores. We are also hearing that
the people who score 4th grade Florida Writes! is also scoring spelling a
little harder. For this reason, we feel we need to begin giving weekly
spelling/phonics tests. In your child's FROG binder, you have a list of all
the words we will be working on for the unit (5 weeks). The spelling words
follow the phonics skill we have worked on for that week. I just want you to
be aware of this new change.
