3rd Grade Newsletter
May 2009
Dear Parents,
It is hard to believe that the year is almost over. It seems like
yesterday was the beginning of the school year. I'd like to thank all the
chaperones who helped make our Key Largo field trip successful. The boat was
rocky but we made it. The rest of the day was amazing and unforgetable. We
are completeing our last unit in Language arts. This unit is called "Taking
Care of The Earth".
For Science we continue reading Science Weekly for up-to -date fun facts and
experiments.
You may want to try some of these ideas at home as a family. I will give
extra credit to any student who turns in an experiment.
In science we also continue learning about Art and Science Through the Ages.
In math we are expanding on double digit multiplication. I also sent home
information about a math web site so the children could practice daily and
over the summer. This will help to keep them sharp!
Please assist your child by continuing to practice multiplication
facts daily. This is important for continued success in math.
It is fun reading and learning about Social Studies. We read from our
Studies Weekly Newspaper. The questions and crossword puzzles make the
information hard to forget. It wouldn’t be unusual to walk into the
classroom and find the students on the floor reading in groups and locating
facts together in the newspaper. T.F.K. is an excellent source for learning
around the world.
In addition to Hebrew, reading a variety of stories about Jewish Heroes
as well as discuss famous Jewish people from the past ensure our growing
knowledge of the Jewish People.
I’m looking forward to many new and creative ways to teach your precious
children. If you need to reach me, you can always send me a note or please
feel free to call the school number: (305) 595-1500. I will return
your call as soon as possible.
Love,
Mrs.Fistel
