Parent

As the parent, you are trying to take an active role in your child's college
career. You want them to be successful academically and be able to help when
they call you in a "crunch." You must find out what resources are available
to you as a parent in order to help your college kid. You also want to know
of some Reading activities that you can recommend, complete with your child
when they're at home (breaks and vacations; maybe on weekends) and pick-up
some useful reading information to use with your high-school student, who is
also college-bound!

Access the sites below to gather useful information.

Reading is Fundamental (use the topic box on the left to navigate this site)

Orientation 2005- Michigan Tech. has this site specifically for parents of
Freshman. It describes what parents can do and has reasonable suggestions
for helping students manage workload and time.

This site contains good information for parents regarding reading at the
college level, and test-taking at the college level. (It has some materials
for high-school reading/testing too.)

Other Resources

Just because this is a WebQuest doesn't mean that the students should be
limited to using
the web for resources. Think of other resources for this role or perspective and list
them here.
