March 29, 2012 BEGINNING the FOURTH GRADING PERIOD, Spanish SPELLING TESTS will be administered on a WEEKLY BASIS.  This will help your child in the transition from second to third grade. Here are some tips to help your child with this transition: 1.  Please be advised that ALL Spanish Spelling words are taken from our Spanish Reading/Language Arts Selections.  They are a combination of spelling and vocabulary words from the weekly readings.  2.  Please review with your child the importance of copying the words correctly on their Home Learning agenda.  Copying the words incorrectly can affect their spelling test grade.  The Home Learning Agenda is available to students on a DAILY basis for corrections, completion or clarifications. 3.  In addition, all words and their definitions are reviewed in class in isolation and in context.    Class dictionaries are available for your child to use in class. 4.  Please contact us directly should you have any further questions regarding the Spanish Spelling Words.  5.  Please stress the importance of completing ALL Home Learning to your child in ALL subject areas.  This will facilitate the transition from second grade to third grade.  Home Learning is a requirement as stated in the Home  Learning Policy.  Thank you in advance for your cooperation. YOUR CHILD WILL BE RECEIVING A BOOKMARK WITH RECOMMENDED WEB SITES (BRAINPOP, T2R, IXL, Reading Plus) & CORRESPONDING USERNAME & PASSWORDS.  BOOKMARKER is to stay in Home Learning folder for home & school use!!!! Reading Plus - Technological Issues are being resolved. I am currently unable to "UNSUSPEND" students.  This message comes up when students "click-away" of do not move through program during expected time.  If a session is not completed, the program will erase sections started.  A full session is usually 20-25 minutes.  Please monitor your child the first few times they go on to ensure proper and effective use.  Otherwise, I  strongly encourage three, thirty minute sessions a week.    Ticket to Read - Username & Password information has not changed.  However, some students are not enrolled in VPORT, so their username and password will be missing on their marker.  This will be corrected as soon as possible and your child will receive a NEW bookmark. September 14, 2011 Art Home Learning-  Mrs. Hernandez, the Art teacher, has requested that students bring in a picture of a rain forest animal.  This picture may be in color or black and white.  September 13, 2011 Please be advised that your child will earn a "0" on their behavior chart if they fail to bring in their supplies or complete their Home Learning.  This "0" will be given for not "Following Directions".  Being prepared for class allows for academic success.  Thank you for your cooperation. There is NO Home Learning assigned for tonight (Sept.12).  Students have been asked to read, study Spanish High Frequency Words, and study addition/subtraction facts.
Please remember to send your child to school EVERYDAY with their supplies.  Students need FIVE sharpened pencils everyday. In addition, other items such as glue or crayons may need to be replenished.
