Rainbow Fish
During the first quarter, I read the book
"Rainbow Fish" to the first grade students. From
here, students created their own "Rainbow Fish"
using oil pastels and collage techniques. |

|
First Grade Color Mixing
Using a template, students learned how to mix
primary colors to create the secondary colors on
the color wheel. |

|
Texture Pumpkin
In second grade we discussed the fall harvest
and the term texture. Students created texture
rubbings and turned them into a pumpkin or
Jack-O-Lantern. |

|
Fall Landscape
In third grade, we created a fall landscape
picture during the second quarter. Students
learned about the idea of a background and
foreground. We used oil pastels and watercolors
to complete the pictures. |

Matisse Goldfish Collage
In fourth grade this fall, we studied the artist
Henri Matisse, his picture "Goldfish" and his
style of collage. We created our own "Goldfish"
picures while learning about texture and collage
techniques. Students used watercolors, salt,
crayon rubbings, wallpaper and tissue paper to
complete their work. |

Fifth Grade Still Life
In fifth grade we started a drawing lesson of
turning shapes into form by shading. We built
on our knowledge and created our own
individual still life picure using construction
paper and oil pastels. |
