    Skills and Techniques 

•	Learns to continue correct singing posture for tone and pitch.

•	Relate individual voice to melodic patterns and song.

•	Sing simples songs in four note range in correct pitch.

•	Ability to perform a steady beat and sing using appropriate 

phrasing, dynamic contrast and tempo changes.

     Creation and Communication

•	Learns to read notes, timing and staff and demonstrates them through 
voice.

•	Creates rhythmic and melodic patterns using classroom instruments.


    Cultural and Historical Connections

•	Understands that music is different in other places and times.

•	Compares timbres of contrasting examples in world music.


    Aesthetic and Critical Analysis

•	Responds to music characteristics such as tempo and melodic contour.

•	 Differentiates between solo and group performance.


    Applications to Life

•	Knows that music is part of celebration and daily life.

•	Identifies a personal preference for a specific type of music

•	Identifies the role of musicians in school and community
