A Christmas Carol Exam Re-Take
*I will allow students who scored below a "C" to select an alternative short-response question to improve their test score. This section alone is worth 20pts, which can make a tremendous difference. I will debrief with those students on Thursday, November 19.*
Quarter 2 Extra Credit Opportunity
Dear Parents of 7th Grade Students:
I am giving all of my 7th Grade Gifted LA students the opportunity to earn up to 25 extra points for writing a Compartive Essay. They will focus on the textbook play version of A Christmas Carol and compare it to the movie version of the story, narrated by Jim Carey; this film will start showing on November 6. This assignment is an independent project, therefore the student should write this essay in his/her own words. Credit will be based upon the student's effort, and where that individual student is in terms of writing skills.
For this assignment, students must focus on both the similarities and differences between the two versions, in a 1.5-2 page "typed" essay (12pt font, double-spaced). The essay must include the movie "ticket receipt," in addition to the parent signature. In order to receive up to 25pts in extra credit, the students must submit this essay now due on by November 24.
8th Grade
Dear Parents of 8th Grade Students:
This extra credit opportunity is also opened for any 8th Grade student who is interested. Instead of writing a Comparative Essay, they will need to write a Movie Review (similar to the Author's Critque). Please SEE requirements above. This assignment will be due on Tuesday, November 24.
ALL Grades
I will need some assistance in tracing the biography cube pattern. You can earn up to 15pts. of extra credit by staying after school on Wednesday, November 18 from 2:30pm-3:30pm. It will take roughly a hour and snacks will be provided! Please let me know by Wednesday morning, November 18 if you are interested.
