Some thing to share with our students. Family dinners will also
be served.

Dear Teachers, Principals, Assistant Principals and All:  Our
organization,Brothers and Sisters Doing the Right Thing, runs an every
Saturday Tutoring Program at the North County Library as well as a Teen
Program centered directly to help the young children and families of the
Newtown area and beyond.  Any child/teen is welcomed and helped, guided and
fed and this has been going on for several years.  We utilize the finest
volunteers from throughout the county, churches, colleges, businesses,
restaurants as diverse as the Colony Beach Resort on Longboat Key to Ben and
Jerry's to St. Boniface Church to the Sarasota Sailing Association --- a
multitude of local good people who have and who continue to step forward
over the years to assist these area children.... to reach out to them, to
give them experiences, adventures and assistance beyond the borders that too
often close them in.  This year in addition to our regular work we are, in
desperation to assist the students and you with the upcoming FCAT tests,
initiating and offering an additional program.

At the Newtown Estates Park Dept, directly across from the North County
Library, we will be running a ten day tutoring and dinner program for any
child third grade through high school, Feb 23 - 27 and March 2 - 6 at the
hours 5:30 till 7:30.  We will have parents learning alongside their
children.  The mayor and several city commissioners, local college officials
and distinguished visitors have already agreed to come.  Very few in this
town want to be among those who, now more than ever, continue to ignore the
desperate educational FCAT statistics and proof of low percents proficient
in yearly reading and math scores.

In the next few days we will bring flyers to your school to send home
regarding this program.  There is only room for 150 participants in
the building each night.  We hope your students and parents take advantage
of this extra help.  All must preregister with Ms. Alice Faye Jones,
Director at 544-3540.  Please call her now if you have any questions, we are
here to help.    Ms. Dee Webber, Asst. Dir.
