How expensive is it to join band?

If you are in 6th grade, I will supply you with a free instrument for the 
remainder of the school year(till May).  You will need to buy black clothes 
including a black shirt from the music department for $10.00, plus a book for 
$9.00.  When you start your second year of band (7th grade usually) you will 
be required to rent a band instrument from school or a music store.

Can I join band ifhave never played an instrument before and can't read music?

Perfect!!! Most of the students in the BMS Band started out the same way with 
either little or no knowledge of music.  I will teach you everything from 
scratch.

Can I join band in the 7th or 8th grade?

It is really tough to schedule and you would be put into a beginning 6th 
grade band if it were possible.  The time to join is now, 6th grade.

How much time is required after school to be in the band.

Basically, band meets only during school time.  The only thing after school 
is your own personal practice time and two concerts during the year.  The 
concerts are required to pass the class.
