What happens if I am absent the day of a test or quiz?
Calculus students will make up the missed test or quiz in
class the day they return. If you are absent more than one day, then a
different make-up test will be administered after school. Algebra 2 students
will use the replacement test given at the end of the quarter to replace a
missing test grade and the chapter test grade will replace a missing quiz
grade. Therefore, no makeup quizzes or tests will be administered.
What can I do if I'm having trouble in class?
Students who are concerned about how they are doing in class have a couple of
options. They can go to peer tutoring sessions through Mu Alpha Theta (day to
be announced) or they can discuss with Mrs. Martineauabout meeting with her
before or after school. Mrs. Martineau is available in her room at 7:05 a.m.
most mornings for extra help.
How can I get information not provided on the website?
Parents or students can e-mail Mrs. Martineau at
beverly.martineau@browardschools.com.
What can I do to improve my grade if I do poorly on a quiz?
In Algebra 2. if your Chapter Test grade is higher than the quiz grade, your
quiz grade will be replaced by the equivalent percent of the test grade. If
you have not missed any chapter tests, the replacement grade at the end of the
quarter will replace your lowest test grade.
In Calculus, you will have numerous opportunities to earn bonus points in
class on multiple choice AP questions. However, you will not be able to earn
these points unless you are in class, so frequent absences will eliminate
your opportunities to earn extra points.
Will homework be collected and graded every day?
In Algebra 2, homework will be collected on a random basis and graded 0, 5,or
10 for completion. Occasionally, you will be asked to take a "homework quiz"
during which you will be asked to copy from your homework 3 or 4 problems that
we have already discussed. It is important that you keep your homework
organized since this quiz will be timed and also graded out of 10 points.
Homework will count as 10% of your 9-week grade. In Calculus, homework will
be collected on Fridays and count up to 4% extra credit added to the 9-week
average. It will be graded on completion--copying the problem and showing all
necessary work.
