FAQFrequently Asked Questions: This page contains answers to common questions of students and parents.
Is it really important to read every day, even during the summer? Yes! Research shows that students who read over breaks from school return to school better prepared than those students who took a vacation from reading! Can I email Mrs. Sieg from this site? Yes! Simply click on the email icon in the upper right-hand corner of the home page. Is it important to arrive to school on time? We cannot stress enough the importance of having your child to school on time. We start the business of learning promptly each day! When students arrive late, they miss the opportunity to visit with friends, take care of sharpening pencils, handing in work, etc. These morning "rituals" allow students to mentally prepare as they transition from home to school. Tardy students interrupt the flow of the morning's lesson for the other students, as well. And most importantly, we have found that late students spend much of the morning trying to get caught up and feeling rushed, which is not in line with brain-based research that indicates that students learn best in a relaxed learning environment. Can I have lunch with my child from time to time? Certainly! Cornerstone encourages parents to have lunch with their students. Make sure you always sign in with the office, though, and pick up a visitor's pass. The office must, at any given time, know who is on campus each day. Am I allowed to visit and/or observe my child's classroom? Absolutely! What happens if my child forgets to bring his/her lunch? Don't worry! We keep a SMALL supply of extra lunches and snacks just for these occasions. We ask that parents replace these items at their convenience. Can I access the Cornerstone School Web Page from the third grade site? Absolutely! Just click on the little schoolhouse in the upper right-hand corner of the home page. |
