Margo Deal began teaching with Bay District Schools in 1985 and taught
at Mosley High School until 1994. While at Mosley, she taught English,
Journalism, and Drama, and established Mosley's award-winning publication,
MAKING WAVES; she was Mosley's Young Educator of the Year in 1988, and
Mosley's Teacher of the Year in 1994. Ms. Deal also taught at A.D. Harris
High School from 1995 - 1998, was selected as A.D. Harris Teacher of the
Year 1996, and then left teaching in 1998 for a career change-to publish her
own newspaper, THE PANAMA CITY BEACH NEWS, and to serve as a consultant for
a Jacksonville-based educational forum. She was also a flight attendant for
five years before returning to her teaching career in 2003 as an English
instructor for Bay High School, and then, after moving to the southern part
of Washington County, began teaching at Deane Bozeman School. Ms. Deal had
the honor of being Bozeman's "Teacher of the Year" for 2009, and was one of
the five finalists for Bay District School's "Teacher of the Year." She was
also a 2009 Jefferson Award nominee. Ms. Deal, now Ms. Deal Anderson, is
married to Lee Anderson, and she has one daughter, Hilary Keeley, who is a
Florida Gator, a graduate of George Washington University Law School,an
attorney for the Dept. of Health and Human Services in Washington D.C., and
who recently married Tom Keeley. In addition to teaching at Deane Bozeman,
Ms. Deal is also an adjunct instructor for Gulf Coast Community College's
Department of Language and Literature. Ms. Deal's mother, Geri Deal, lives in
Lynn Haven, and sadly, she lost her father last school year to lung disease.
She is a native of Bay County, and has one brother, Dr. Roy Deal, who
practices medicine in Panama City. When she is not teaching, Ms. Deal
travels and sings professionally as Margo Anderson; she was the opening act
for country star Aaron Tippin recently, and she has been featured on
national television five times singing the National Anthem for NASCAR events.
She received her B.A degree from the University of Southern Mississippi with
a major in English and minors in French and Educational Psychology, and then
received her M.A. degree in Language and Literature from Austin Peay State
University, Clarksville, Tennesee . She is most excited right now about her
granddaughter-to-be, Lily Elise, who is due on September 30th!
