The following is a general outline of our daily schedule so that you can see a picture of our procedures.  I usually teach using thematic units that integrate all areas of the curriculum so that children are learning in multiple disciplines concurrently (while having fun).

 

8:15-8:45            Welcome, morning bell work (i.e. math challenge word problem, Question of the Day, Daily Proof Reading work), pledge, attendance and announcements...

                  

8:45-9:40           Specials         

9:40-10:45         Literacy Block- Harcourt Story Town

(cont. at 1:45-2:15) Direct instruction, literacy centers, independent work (student practice of the focus skill & focus strategies) and small group guided reading

 

10:45-11:15       Language Arts: Writing Block

 

11:15-11:45       Lunch-  Table 7 Side A

 

11:45-12:15       Calendar Math, Teacher Read Aloud

                             (Fridays – Mystery Reader)

 

12:15-12:45       Physical Fitness

 

12:45-1:15          Math Block- (Continued at 1:45)

 

1:15-1:45            Computer –Individualized Learning System-Success Maker in Computer Lab #2

 

1:45-2:15            Math Block continued

 

2:15-3:00            Science/Social StudiesSpanish on Tuesdays and Thursdays

                             Also Talent Development/Drama- Shared time with Mrs. Johnson and Mrs. Knapp on select Fridays
