On Sunday, May 20, 2007, the alumni, faculty, and staff of Grace Lutheran School had the privilege of celebrating and praising God for His abundant blessings upon Grace Lutheran School during the past fifty years.

     It was the vision of the Reverand and Mrs. Martin C. Rupprecht that a Lutheran parochial school was needed in Pinellas County, Florida.  They led the Grace Lutheran Church's congregation to see the need for such a school, and Grace Lutheran School opened in September, 1956.  Mrs. Ruth Rupprecht was the first principal of the school that began as a kindergarten class with eighteen students.  The school began in Grace Lutheran Church's facility at 2812 8th Street North, in Saint Petersburg, Florida.  Through the years more grades were added, and the school moved to its present location at 4301 16th Street North in the early 1960's.

     From 1961 until 1968, Mr. Edwin H. Eggersmann served as Grace Lutheran School's second principal, and the school increased to Grades 5 and 6.  Upon Mr. Eggersmann's retirement, Mr. Edwin G. Temme became the third principal.  Through his thirty years of leadership, Grace Lutheran School continued to expand and now includes Grades 7 and 8 plus a preschool program for three-year old and four-year old children.  Mrs. Mary Lou Wells served as the interim principal from 1998 until the fall of 1999, when Mr. Gary Dresser became the fourth principal.  Mr. Dresser served at Grace Lutheran School until 2005.  Then, after serving another year as the interim principal, Mrs. Wells accepted the Divine Call in 2006, to become Grace Lutheran School's fifth and present principal.

     Grace Lutheran School has been blessed with wonderful spiritual leaders through a large host of Florida state-certified faculty members as well as inspiring pastors through the years.  Countless numbers of children have received the Good News of their salvation through their Savior Jesus Christ.  For this we truly have reason to celebrate!  Grace Lutheran School promotes excellence in education, and it is accredited by "National Lutheran Schools Accreditation" through the standards of the "Florida-Georgia District" of the "Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod."

     To God be the glory for the wonderful things He has done at Grace Lutheran Church and School.  We pray that our Lord will continue to bless the ministry of Grace Lutheran School through the next fifty years.
