My name is Kristin Samples and this is my seventh year of teaching. I have
been at Highland City for the duration of my teaching career and I feel at
home. This is an amazing school! My first year of teaching was in 5th grade
and the remainder of my time has been spent as a 4th grade teacher. I have
been married for 8 years to my husband Alan. I have a son named Layne and he
is 2 1/2 years old. He was born on my 6 year wedding anniversary. He has
brought so much joy to my life. It is amazing to watch him grow everyday.
About the Intern:
My name is Laura Harmon and I am an intern from Southeastern University in
Lakeland. I am originally from Fort Myers, where I grew up as the second of
five children. I have spent my life around kids, and I am so excited to be
working with your students this semseter.
Our class is called Victory Lane. The mission for our class is to work
together and become fifth graders by the end of the year. We are racing
toward the finish line!!!
Our class has a check book system that allows them to earn money for good
choices, doing their jobs, and completing all of their assignments. At the
end of each nine week period the students will get a chance to spend their
money in the classroom store. The checkbook system is a great system because
the students realize that if they do not follow the 4 B's and make good
choices they will lose money. They also learn the responsibility of saving
money and budgeting their checkbooks.
