Project Ideas for The Giver:
1. Draw a book jacket that summarizes the story.
2. Write a critique of the book.
3. Make a time line showing the important events from the story.
4. Make a diorama showing one of the scenes from the book.
5. Write a poem about the book. Must be 5 stanzas, 6 lines each stanza.
6. Make puppets and write a puppet show to illustrate one scene from
the story.
7. Write a radio or television advertisement to advertise the book.
Record yourself if you choose the radio ad or video tape yourself if you
choose the TV ad.
8. Design a poster to advertise the book.
9. Write a different ending for the story: It should be roughly the
length of the last chapter.
10. Make a comic book version of the story to share with young readers.
11. Make a mobile showing the main character, secondary characters,
setting, and one scene from the story.
12. Pretend to be a movie director or producer. Videotape a scene from
the book. Be sure the main characters are identifiable.
13. Create a memory box. Include items significant to the story.
Decorate the box with a scene or scenes from the story.
14. Make a collage based on scenes from the book. Use pictures and words
cut from magazines or found on the internet.
