Announcements WEEK OF NOVEMBER 30, 2009
Dear Students and Parents,
We have a very exciting week ahead as we look forward to Field Day on
Wednesday, Dec. 2nd. Our class theme is PIRATES, so we can think of some
creative attire. We are also very proud of our fine behavior in the cafeteria
and in class. Do you want to order a Memory Book at a discounted price ($20)?
You have until Dec. 1st.
We’re working diligently on staying engaged in our tasks in becoming
self-directed learners and preparing for the 21st century. Responsibility,
respect, and collaboration are vital for success.
This week we will read ONE RIDDLE, ONE ANSWER in our Treasures curriculum and
focus on the comprehension skill of plot development. Our strategy is
multiple meaning words and the grammar skill is present tense verbs. In Math
we’re learning about multiplication, algebra with missing factors and
geometric patterns. Please note there will be a math test on chapter 9 on
Thursday and our students can do a practice test to prepare on p. 189. Now’s a
great time to practice with your times tables; it even makes a great car activity.
In Language Arts we're continuing our writing, editing, and revising and using
a graphic organizer to plan our expository pieces.
In Science we’re learning about energy.
Our next book report project’s details will be in our students’ take-home
folder. Please look for it.
Please continue to check and sign your child's planner daily. You can contact
me by e-mail anytime at
www.shirley.moskowitz@browardschools.com. I make it a point to check it at
least 3 times a day and get back to you in a timely manner. Please ensure
optimal learning by having our students get a good night's sleep and having
time in the morning for a healthy and energizing breakfast. Thank you.
Truly yours,
Mrs. Moskowitz
