Dear Parents,                                                                                             December 11, 2009

 Advent is a special time when we prepare for the coming of Jesus. It is also a time when we reach out to others. Please see the additional letter regarding our Kindergarten Advent Project that we are doing with our 8^th Grade Reading Partners. Each class is doing their own advent project this year in place of the school-wide advent outreach.

Reminders:

1.  Wednesday, December 16^th

     Your child’s Advent Partner’s Christmas Ornament is due. Please be sure it is wrapped and has a “to/from” tag on it.

2.  Monday – Thursday:  Children bring in coins they have collected from family, friends, neighbors.

     December 17^th:  Last day to bring in coins for the Christmas Jar.

     We have a “crib” on our bulletin board. Each time a child brings in a donation for the Christmas Jar,

     he or she will receive a service certificate that will represent “hay” in Jesus’ crib.

3.  Friday, December 18^th: Noon Dismissal

     We will be celebrating a special advent mass at 8:45am to conclude our service project. Children

     may dress up on this day. Please follow the dress out day directives in the school handbook.

I will be sending home your child’s supply box. Perhaps “Santa” could bring items to replenish their supply boxes. Please note the supplies that are needed or are acceptable for after the break below.

I will not be sending home towels, since we just did that!!

Pencils: 3 SHARPENED

Crayons—regular size (NO large primary crayons, please) Can include the 24 boxed crayons.

Scissors

Glue Sticks: 2 LARGE glue sticks

**Markers: Thin colored markers are ok for the 2^nd semester

**Colored Pencils: SHARPENED!!!

Next week will be a review week and special projects week. Thus far we have introduced all the letters and sounds and have completed all the pre-decodable books. Please consider having your child review the material on more.starfall.com if you subscribed. It’s an excellent review of all the many high frequency words that have been introduced so far.

I will not be sending the Weekly Newsletter or Parent Letter home next week. Let me take this opportunity to wish you and your families a very blessed and peace-filled Christmas!!
