December 1, 2009 Dear Parents, Advent is a time for Praying, Preparing and Waiting for the celebration of the birth of Jesus. As we prepare for other important events in our lives we do special things, maybe even practice to make it just right. It is good to practice the things we know we should do to be like Jesus. In that spirit, students are picking an Advent prayer partner today so they can practice being kind and praying for someone special. Students will know who their partner is and will pray for their partners and practice acts of kindness. We made a list of things students could do during Advent. Students are not to bring candy, toys or other gifts for their partner. Student will have time in class to make things for their partners, assuring everyone receives something. Someone asked if they could share a snack and I said yes. Sharing is always good. On December 18, the last day of classes, students will be asked to bring in an ornament ($5 limit) wrapped and labeled for their Advent Prayer Partner. We will exchange them at our party that morning. December 18 Schedule: 8:30 -Mass 10:00 - Party 11:15 -Caroling in Rm 121 12:00 -Dismissal Please let Mrs. Watterson know if you will be able to help organize and assist with the party. She has classes and won't be able to be there. The party usually consists of a food treat such as special cookies, cupcakes or Christmas donuts on a Christmas napkin or plate, water bottles, and goodie bags or take home treat. Don't forget our class service project. Thank you all who have helped your child support our adopt a soldier project. 1st Lt. Dane Hanson (24years old) celebrates both his birthday and Christmas this month while stationed in Iraq. We have to mail the box by December 4th. This is a monthly project, so if you can't do it this month, pick another month. Below is a suggested list from his mom, but he would enjoy any kind of Christmas/birthday decoration or treat...maybe a homemade ornament, a recycled birthday decoration or goody bag. Our students will be making cards to send. Beef jerky Beef jerky with the cheese Gummies Sugar free gum Mints Protein bars Protein jelly beans Boxes of theatre candy might be good (they watch movies) Twizzlers Powerade/Gatorade packets I will keep you all in my prayers this Advent season. God bless, Mrs. Bridge
