| A Note From the Art Teacher-
This website is a special site designed for the parents and is not a regular
part of my teaching methods. I am providing this site for you to be able to
assist your child and make sure that you have all the same knowledge that I
give your student during their class time. I do post the homework on the
marker board every Monday (and it stays on the board until the next Monday)
and constantly change the assignment at the beginning of each week. I also
give the assignment to the students at the end of the period verbally so the
student has both the visual and verbal cues given to them for the homework.
I also post the artist of the month on the marker board and change the name
every new month. So students also have the visual of who they can write
about if they are interested in doing that months artist. I am not
required by the state to post the information on the website but feel that
the best way to help your child is to always have a way that the parents can
check up and find out information that is being given to your child. This
site is a benefit to you and your child. If there are questions or concerns
you have about your child I am always willing and able to discuss them
through email, phone, or conference. Thank you.

All art classes have homework every week. On the second week of class all
the students will be creating a sketchbook which they will be responsible
for. If they lose or destroy the sketchbook we create they will need to
make or buy a new sketchbook. They have learned how to make a sketchbook in
class and can use typing paper as filler if needed. If they wish they can
purchase a sketchbook from several stores. They will also need to have a
pocket folder to carry the sketchbooks they create so they can safely carry
the book home and back to class weekly. Subject matter is assigned at the
end of the class period. If your child does not remember what the homework
is, please have them create a free-drawing. If your child is in second grade
they are expected to draw in pencil at least half of the page. The students
in third grade must draw in pencil filling the whole page. Fourth graders
must draw the picture covering the whole page and color at least half of the
page. Fifth graders need to draw and color the whole page. Students can
color in crayons or color pencils. Plese do not use markers or paints on
the homework books that the students created in class. The pages are thin
and the wet materials will "bleed" through. As of the second week of school
I will be listing the weekly assignments for homework on this page. The
assignment topic is assigned on the week it is listed under and the work
will be due to the teacher the following week. This will assist you in
finding out what your child was assigned for the week in question.
NEW- On the page identified as Artist challenge. I am posting artist for
each month. If a student would like to try and earn extra credit for their
grades in art they can decide to write a paper on one of the artists. This
is not required in the class but allow the student the chance to get bonus
grades in art to improve their overall grade. The paper need to have 8
interesting facts about the artist. I am looking for information like what
type of art does the artist paint, what materials do they use, when they
were born and died, and any interesting facts that make the artist stand
out. I am NOT looking for titles of art work and when the art was painted.
August 18- August 21- Homework for this week is to bring in a pocket
folder. The folder does NOT need to have prongs in it or designs on the
cover. It does need to have two pockets to be able to hold the homework
sketchbook in when we make the book. On the cover of the book please make
sure that the students first and last name and the homeroom teacher's name
are printed on the front cover of the folder.
August 25- August 28- Homework is My Family. Students are to draw a picture
of their family. They can include pets and extended family if they
wish.

what they wish to draw for their topic this week.
