Homework

AR is now available at home!

Reading Plus has a 90 minute per week requirement.
A minimum of 3 AR points per week is suggested. Large books require more
time.
FCAT EXPLORER is also a required element.

FINALLY, WE HAVE A BEATUIFUL NEW LIBRARY IN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD. PLEASE GO
THERE OFTEN (INTERNET COMPUTERS ARE AVAILABLE FOR FREE USE IN THE LIBRARY).

Homework for the week will be written by your child into his/her Agenda,
usually on the first school day of each week. Unless there is a specified
due date, the assignment is due the next day.

**FCAT Explorer/Riverdeep/teacherweb.com (Internet).K.L.E. webpage, LINKS,
learning ...Dade public libraries are free and have computers for your use
if you do not have one available. Remember to enter the Marco Polo site. It
has many exciting learning experiences as well as interactive illuminations.
The dadeschools.net site for STUDENTS is full of learning activities. FCAT
EXPLORER is a required site.
**Current events...usually due on MONDAYS... requires a brief written report
and oral presentation of WHO, HOW, WHERE, WHEN, WHY, HOW, SOURCE and
SIGNIFICANCE. An illustration and the ability to locate the place of the
news on a world map will also be required.
Please have your child practice presenting the current event at home to be
certain they can comprehend and read each word. Students must be speak
loudly so everyone in the class can hear (oral presentations are part of the
language arts objectives). Students will need to
locate the WHERE (location) on a classroom map. Pictures and illustrations
enhance the current event presentation, as well as the grade.

**Study for tests...usually on Fridays.
**Homework is required by M-DCPS and is assigned for each day of the
week...AR is required daily, including Saturday and Sunday...Homework is
charted and copied on Mondays...check your child's Agenda. Internet resource
(FCAT Explorer) are also required.
**Parents should view and sign the Agenda daily with the name of the AR book
the student is reading. Each student needs to write each
book and the test results. An AR list is available on the KLE website...be
aware that many public library books may be AR, however, KLE only has
specific books on their computer system.
**Each child has a Study Composition Book which should be reviewed at home
on a frequent basis. www.fcatexplorer.com is available and needs to be
practiced as often as possible. An assigned name and
password will be used. Every student will write this word into their
agenda. This is an excellent resource, which helps prepare students for
testing/fcat. Please have your child access it often. Sample FCAT tests are
available through dadeschools.net.

Please review the Composition Book(s), FOLDERS, and websites. They contain
valuable educational vocabulary and strategies to enhance your child's
success.
