FAQFrequently Asked Questions
Is there a way I can practice for the National Geography Bee? Yes, you may! There are several links on my website that provide practice style quizzes. My favorite is on the National Geographic Kids Website. Go there and take the quiz. You may take the quiz for this week and/or past weeks. The Travel Channel also has some fun "test-your-skills" type of games, however these show bits of pictures from cultures all over the world, and are more difficult and mostly suited toward adults. Do we all have to have a Youth Fair Project? Yes! Each student in my class will complete a social studies project which will be entered into competition with other Dade County students at the Miami-Dade County Youth Fair. For complete details visit my "Forms" link from the home-page. (And, of course this project is worth 5 grades!!:) Students are encouraged to use the restrooms on their time, in between classes rather than in the middle of classtime. For the rare occasions when the student has an emergency, the student may be permitted to go if they have their agenda on them which serves as the hall pass. This is true for all classes at Lake Stevens Middle School. Can we bring up our grades after Progress Reports? Of coarse you can!!! Progress reports only let you know how your grade stands at that very moment. Each assignment completed and turned in is an opportunity for improvement. Make sure you make the best of opportunities! There are approximately 4 weeks left until the final grades are turned in for the First Quarter Grading Period. HARD WORK = SUCCESS! Do you give home work every night? Just about. There will be rare ocassions when this is not true, but don't bank on it. Rest assured that the home learning has a purpose, and an objective which needs to be obtained, you will not be given 'busy work'. Yes, to students who have an excused absence as shown on their admit pass. (usually with a doctor's note)Students are given the same time to make-up the work as they were out of school. Example if you missed 3 days of class, you will have 3 class days to make up the assignment(s). |
