Mrs. Drax was born and raised in New York and attended public schools in
Brooklyn and Queens. She attended Long Island University, Niagara University
both in New York, but graduated from Troy State University in Alabama with a
degree in English with minors in criminal justice and journalism.
Her professional background includes social work and education. During her
first year teaching at Lakeland High School she was the yearbook adviser and
9th grade English Honors teacher. This is her first year teaching Intensive
Reading and she is excited!
In addition to teaching, she is a published author, freelance writer and
editorial consultant.
The goal of Intensive Reading is to equip adolescent readers with reading
strategies that can be applied to all academic areas and on standardized
tests while developing an appreciation and enjoyment of reading
fiction and nonfiction literary works.
