Tardy to Class:

The tardy policy is consistent with the student handbook.  When you enter the classroom after the tardy bell, sign the clipboard with your name and the time you entered.  Proceed quietly to your desk and catch up to what we are doing.  You will need to find out what you missed AFTER class is over.  If you disrupt the class, disciplinary action will ensue. The third tardy will result in parent contact and the fourth tardy will result in a teacher assigned detention to be served the following Wednesday. Failure to report to a detention will result in a referral.

Consequences:

Breaking any rules, Mrs. Morgan’s or LHS rules, will result in the following.

First offense: Non-Verbal Warning

Second offense:  Verbal Warning

Third Offense:  Detention with another teacher during the class period

Fourth Offense:  Phone call home or conference with your coach

Fifth Offense: Referral to Office

*If your cell phone rings during class, I will give you one warning.  If it rings again, I will take your phone battery out and turn it   into the office.

*If you are using your IPOD, I will take your IPOD and turn it into the office.

Restroom Policy:

At an appropriate time during class, if you need to go to the restroom, please ask for the pass. I will fill out the pass for you. If, after five minutes you have not returned, I am legally obligated to report this to administration.

Student who have not used the restroom at all during a nine week period, will receive five points extra credit on their notebook grade.

Grading Policy:

Homework:          Yes, you will have homework almost every night!  You must complete  all the problems                   10 points

and show work where necessary to receive full credit.  I know when there should be work shown.

If you turn in late homework, you get an automatic half credit, no exceptions!! I will not grade work

that has no name on it or is not labeled properly! This results in a ZERO!! NO WORK = NO CREDIT!!!

Class Work:         This includes, but is not limited to: worksheets, bookwork, group work, and activities.                       10 points

Each day you will have some sort of assignment to be completed before the end of class. I will not grade work

that has no name on it or is not labeled properly! This results in a ZERO!! NO WORK = NO CREDIT!!!

Vocabulary:        At the start of a new chapter you will receive a vocabulary sheet. These vocabulary sheets                             Included in

are to be in your folder and completed when                notebooks are collected. It is in your best interest  to make these             Notebook check

as detailed as possible, due to the fact that you will be tested on vocabulary.

Quizzes:  There will be a quiz each Friday (usually) on material covered that week. Quizzes may be given                   100 points

without notice on days besides Friday, so be prepared at all times for a pop quiz.

Tests:     There will be a test at the end of each chapter. I will give you plenty of notice so you can review.                     200 points

*Every Thursday, I will have a Review day from 2:05-2:45.  This is a review specific to the test or quiz on

Friday.  This is not a “free-for-all.”

Notes:    You are required to take notes on everything that I write on the board. These are for you to use                     Included in

while solving problems on your own in class or while you are doing your homework.                                                        Notebook check

Notebook Checks:  You will be given a table of contents page that will list                                                                            100 points

what will be graded. Contents are to be in that specific order or your notebook will not be graded!

Final Exam:  The final exam is cumulative, meaning that everything we discussed during the semester will                 20% of your

be tested.  Again, your attendance and attention in class will have a BIG impact on your success.                                     grade

Attendance:  You will get out of this class what you put into it.  I am here to help you; all you have to do is ask!  However, if you have excessive absences, you will find it difficult to pass this course.  Remember, math is a subject that builds on previous material.  There is also a possibility that you will not receive credit for this class if you have too many absences (per school board policy).

*If you have two or fewer absences and zero tardies (regardless of your grade), your lowest test score will be dropped each 9 weeks.

Make-Up Policy

This policy is consistent with the Polk County School Board make up policy.  See the Student Code of Conduct for details.

It is your responsibility to look at the website, see what you missed, complete and turn in the work within the allotted time frame established by the county.  If you have questions, please ask me.   Any missed notes you will need to copy from another student (Photocopying is not acceptable.)  Wednesdays (from 2:05-2:45) are make up days for tests and quizzes.  If you missed a test or quiz, you have two Wednesdays to arrange a make up time.  You MUST tell me when you are coming to complete a test or quiz.  If you do not take the test or quiz within the two-week time frame, the grade stays a zero.
