Return mid-term reports Time is spent each day discussing homework and recording it in the agenda book. Students are expected to copy their assignments and pack all needed supplies into their backpack. Failure to complete homework will result in a Work Habits check. The following "regular" assignments can be expected each week. Students may choose to complete them ahead of time. Spelling and DLR - Each child has been given a spelling list covering the first 10 weeks of school. Spelling lists and activities can be found at www.spellingcity.com. Please note that AWC students have an additional 5 words each week found at SpellingCity. No time will be given in class to study spelling. Students are expected to learn words on their own and be prepared for a test each Thursday. Additionally, students are expected to be prepared for the weekly DLR test on Thursdays. Weekly Reader - Students will be given a lengthy Weekly Reader assignment each Friday. It is due the following Friday and may be worked on at school as well as at home. Additional activities and support related to the Weekly Reader assignment can be found at www.weeklyreader.com. (refer to Senior Edition) Math - Eight ADD math pages will be due every Tuesday. They will be assigned on Mondays but may be completed in advance. The concepts will be reviewed on Tuesdays and a quiz will be given every Wednesday. Chapter tests will be given at the end of each chapter. Math Superstars: Math Superstar papers will be distributed on Fridays and will be due the following Wednesday. Complete as many problems as you are able. Reading - Children should read a minimum of 20 minutes each night. Online Activities - I have registered each child for VMathLive, EdHelper memory activities, and the Online Math League. I recommend that each child complete at least one memory game at EdHelper - (5 minutes in length) three times each week. You will find it is a fun way to increase memory and processing speed. VMathLive provides the opportunity to practice math skills in a competitive and motivating way. I suggest visiting this site 3 times a week as well. The online math league provides practice math problem solving tests. Children will compete online in November. In additon, you will find many other fun education links on the "Links" pages of this site.
