Grants provide money for special projects.
The Community Foundation of Sarasota
County and The Education Foundation have
paid for several exciting activities
including studies about Diversity.
Here are some pictures of previous
grant activities in which students
learned to write variations of
Beethoven's ODE TO JOY theme
from his 9th Symphony.

Students worked in pairs to
create their own versions of
Beethoven's music. We
videotaped their performances
of their own personal creations.

Maurene Empie, a concert
pianist who lives in Venice,
helped Mrs. Johns teach the
students how to imagine,
perform, and write their
variations. She also
accompanied the advanced
recorder ensemble and the
chorus when they performed for
their parents and friends.

Current grants are based on the theme of WE ARE FAMILY. We very
much appreciate the assistance of local funding sources, which
help us provide extraordinary interdisciplinary learning
experiences for our students. The Education Foundation has granted us a Building Blocks for Success Grant and an Edge of Excellence Grant this year.

Leymis Bolanos Wilmott, co-founder and artistic director of Fuzion Dance Artists, is again collaborating with us to provide dance lessons for our students. Come see the culminating event in April!
