SELF CONFIDENCE!

Lakeview violin students perform on stage for their peers, teachers, and parents. They are learning to stand tall and feel good about themselves as they show others what can be accomplished with plenty of hard work and enthusiasm.

PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT!

Violin Ensemble rehearses on Wednesdays after school, from 3:00-
4:00. Students who join this group must be willing to do the following.
- Attend all rehearsals and
performances unless they have an
emergency.
- Bring their instruments regularly.
- Practice their music at home.
- Behave appropriately during
rehearsals and performances.
- Have a ride home on Wednesdays at
4:00 or go to the After-Care Program.

At performances, students in this group wear performance clothes
appropriate for the stage: long black pants and white shirt/blouse, dark shoes with socks or tights. Sandals, flip-flops, jeans, and tee shirts would not look good on stage. High heels, make up, and excessive jewelry are discouraged
at this age.

An ensemble is a group that performs together, and they need to
look as if they belong together. So we would appreciate your
adhering to the group's dress code. Thank you!

ENSEMBLE SKILLS

Students learn to work cooperatively in groups to be able to make beautiful music together.

They can also earn stripes on their violin bows. Maybe some day they will be as good as these Riverview Orchestra students who performed for us.

BUDDING BEETHOVENS

Ludwig Van Beethoven would be proud to know that these students are performing the theme from his Ninth Symphony. Can you see the focus in their faces as they work hard to bring the physical, mental, and emotional parts of their beings together to create a stunning performance?

AWESOME OPPORTUNITIES

Performing in music ensembles can bring exciting opportunities!

These students played and sang on stage at the Galaxy Palace Theater in The Magic Kingdom's Tomorrowland on May 10, 2008, and then enjoyed the park for the rest of the day.

We plan to audition for the opportunity to perform on Disney's stage again this year.

Our 2010 SPRING CONCERTS will be Thursday, May 20, at 8:45 and 9:30 a.m. at the school, and 7:00 p.m. at Grace Baptist Church on east Bee Ridge Road.

JINGLE BELLS

Holiday music filled the air as these 4th and 5th graders delighted the audience. We are so proud of them! This year's Holiday Concert will be on Thursday, Dec. 17th at 8:45 and 9:30 a.m. at the school, and 7:00 p.m. at Grace Baptist Church on east Bee Ridge Road. We thank the membership of Grace Church for allowing us to use their wonderful facilities at no cost to the school. They plan to have half a million Christmas lights up for all to enjoy.

B - I - N - G - O

Some Violin Ensemble students stay late or come in early before school to get one-to-one lessons with their music teacher. Private lessons are available to all Lakeview students through the Silent Auction on December 4th.

FAMILY INVOLVEMENT

Some say it takes a village to raise a child, and we try to
involve the whole family as much as possible so that learning will be life long.

Mentoring

High school students earn community service points for volunteering to assist in our ensembles.
