These are "WOW" words I am teaching in the classroom. Your child will be
exposed to the definitions and the words in context. Please try to use these
words in daily conversations with your child. Your child does not have to be
able to read or spell these words, but does need to understand their meanings
for the Weekly Reading Test.

Math Fact of the Week: 2+8, 8+2

Below you will find a Suggested Schedule of Activities. All homework is sent
home on Mondays and due on Thursdays. You may schedule the activities to
meet your family’s needs, as long as the homework is returned by Thursday.

SUGGESTED SCHEDULE:

Monday: Practice the sight words by playing a game. Write the Spelling
words two times each. Complete the Math practice sheet.

FEATURED GAME: CONCENTRATION

CONCENTRATION
For this game you need to make 2 sets of cards for each word. Use this weeks
words plus hard to remember words from previous weeks. (Many children
struggle with recognizing and differentiating the “W” words: where, when,
why, what, was, want and went. You may want to include these for fun and
challenge.)Shuffle the words. Set the word cards up like you would for
MEMORY. Review each word with your child. Turn the word cards face down. Have
your child try to make a match by turning over two matching word cards. If
the cards do not match, the object is to CONCENTRATE on where the words are
for a future match.

Tuesday: Practice all math facts and sight words. Complete the family
Language Arts activity.

Wednesday: Read the assigned book(s). Ask comprehension questions such as:
What happened first, next, last? Who was the main character? What was the
problem? Has anything like that ever happened to you? What would you do if
it did? Return the book(s), bag and signed pink slip on THURSDAY. Practice
all sight words and math facts.
Study Spelling words for the written test tomorrow. Practice
the new and previously sent home math facts for the TIMED fact test
tomorrow. The test will include all facts previously sent home. The goal is
to complete all 30 problems in 3 minutes or less. Practice the sight words
for automatic and quick recognition.

Friday: No School for students
