Homework

Homework in Second Grade...

* is used to help teach your child responsibility and to reinforce concepts learned in the classroom.

* will ALWAYS be practice or review of a skill previously taught in the classroom.

* should not take your child longer than 30-40 minutes total each night. If homework is taking your child longer, please let me know so that we can discuss the problem and brainstorm solutions together.

* should include studying weekly words each night.

*includes reading for a minimum of 20 minutes each night (that's 100 minutes per week). A monthly reading log will be sent home at the beginning of each month. After reading, students should record required information on the reading log. All reading logs need to be turned in to Mrs. Vensko on the last school day of the month and will be reflected in your child's reading grade. Please keep this reading log in your child's HOBO book (homework section), as I check these often.

* can be found in your child’s H.O.B.O. binder (homework section).

* is expected to be completed and returned the following day in the

H.O.B.O. (homework section).

Each student in my class receives a Hobo homework punch card. I created and ordered these cards on Vista Print. Students receive a punch on his/her card when homework is turned in on time, complete, and neat. Sometimes, I give out two punches for an extraordinary job! When the card is full, Mrs. Vensko will buy you an ice cream from the cafeteria! Be sure to get your homework turned in! New cards are given out throughout the year.

completing hpendently or it is taking your child longer than 30 minutes to complete, please contact me so thatHom we can discuss this matter. Thank yoCuteAll Graphics created by
