Monday, October 22: Science Board and Logbook Due in classroom to be included in the science fair.

2012 Science Fair Timeline

 

Week One:  September 17-21

  • Choose a topic
  • Brainstorm ideas and form questions
  • Begin research
  • Begin daily logbook (DATE AND WRITE SOMETHING EVERY DAY)

 

Week Two: September 24-September 28

  • Research!  Write down all references used
  • Narrow your questions to testable questions
  • Create Hypothesis statement and identify variables: Independent, Dependent, and Controls
  • Write step by step procedures
  • Continue daily logbook

 

Week Three: October 1-October 5

  • Fill out safety assessment form and give to teacher NO LATER THAN Oct. 1
  • List and gather materials for experiment and display
  • Begin Experiment
    • If things are measured, use metric system
    • Experiments should have three or more trials
    • Record data and results in a table in your logbook
  • Continue daily logbook

 

Week Four: October 8-October 12

  • Write Conclusion and/or Results in logbooks
    • Apply conclusion to real life
  • Prepare graphs and data for display and gather materials for display board

 

Week Five: October 15-October 19

 

Week Six: October 22-October 25

  • Set up display and make classroom presentations
  • Peers review board and presentation for errors, omissions, overall look of board, etc.
