Dear Parents,
     AR Reading:  We are off to a good start.  I would like to see each child 
with 25% of their AR points by the middle of next week.  Progress Reports go 
home on February 22nd which means your child should have 50% of their AR 
points by Feb. 17th. Keep up the great work!	
Supplemental Programs: All students were given information and login details 
for VMATH and Ticket to Read which use the same User ID and Password.  These 
are wonderful programs to support our instructional focus in a fun and 
entertaining way.

Field Trip: We are going to the RHS Planetarium on Thursday, February 2nd. 
Your student will need a bagged lunch from home or the cafeteria on that day.

Report Cards: Report Cards went home on Monday. Please contact me regarding 
any questions or concerns you may have.

Expectations: We are fast approaching 6th grade and many of my students are 
making a nice transition to a more independently responsible way of 
participating in class. If you are seeing that your child is still forgetting 
homework, not writing homework in their Agenda (regardless if I am checking 
it or not), not making AR goals etc. then this is cause for concern. I would 
be happy to meet with you and your child to help support them in this 
transition. Please let me know if you would like to set up a meeting.

5th Grade Girls: Science & Math Olympics: A flyer and permission slip went 
home last week for this event. It is a local event open to all 5th grade 
girls in the district which will be held on Saturday, February 25th @9:30 
a.m. at the Venice Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall. It is a fun filled 
day of Free Science & Math fun, LNS had the winning team last year and we are 
hoping to continue that reign. Please contact me if you have any questions.
