Update:
The typing assignments for the last quarter of the year are now posted. My goodness this year is going fast!
Here is what is happening with your class:
Kindergarten: We are concentrating on keyboarding skills and learning to use 2 hands on the keyboard. Typing some of the sight words in Word will also continue. This will help prepare them for 1stgrade.
First: The first graders are getting very proficient at typing their spelling words in Word and in Kidspiration. They can find pictures to go with their words and type sentences.
Second:The PowerPoint is almost complete. They will be finished before Easter break!. Then we will end the year with keyboarding practice and their first typing assignment will be done in class to practice typing.
Third: The PowerPoints are coming along. We hope to get them finished by Easter vacation so that they can present their finished production after the break. After the Easter break will be another small project and keyboarding practice.
Fourth: We are working on something similar to Pen pals only it is a one shot. We were asked to participate in The Great Mail Race by a fourth grade class at a Catholic School in Oklahoma. So everyone researched a Catholic School in different states and is writing a letter to their fourth grade class. After the Easter break will be another small project and keyboarding practice.
Fifth: The current assignment is History of Computers. Each student is researching a different aspect of this broad topic and then will be creating a 2 page newsletter in Publisher. A few computer classes were missed due to a field trip and testing so we will be continuing this for a few more weeks then finishing the year with keyboarding practice.
Sixth:The sixth graders have been introduced to spreadsheets. They are managing a "virtual" lemonade stand and then creating a spreadsheet using Excel to calculate their earnings.
Seventh:The students are finishing up a travel brochure for Social Studies using Publisher. There will be a new in class project after the Easter break.
Eighth: The eighth graders have been introduced to Excel. They are doing some "virtual" shopping and keeping track of how much they spend in a spreadsheet that they created.
