When will I see my child's tests and quizzes?
Tests and quizzes will be sent home every Friday. Please review
the work and return the tests and quizzes in the folder on
Monday. In addition, all grades are posted on Teacherease. I
recommend you visit the site regularly to monitor your child's
progress.
When can I have a conference?
If you would like to schedule a conference, please leave a voice
mail message, e-mail me, or write me a note. I will be happy to
schedule a conference with you. Please do not ask to speak to me
in the morning. I am preparing for class and meeting with
scheduled parents before the 7:45 bell.
When the bell rings, I am supervising the children and meeting
with students who need assistance or have makeup work to
complete. If you would like to tell me that your child is absent
or ask for makeup work, please leave a note
in the office or leave me a voice mail. I will get the message
and have work prepared for your child during my planning time.
After school, I have supervision duty. I am unable to discuss
your child's work at that time. Please understand that the safety
of the children is always my primary concern.
What is Accelerated Math?
Accelerated Math is very similar to the Accelerated Reading(AR)
program. Assignments are computer-generated and are tailored to
your child's skill level. Each student must complete four
assignments each quarter. Assignments may be practices or tests.
Your child has a folder with a log and his or her current
assignment in it. Ask to see the folder with the log to
see his or her progress.
What is the homework policy?
Homework is given Monday through Thursday. I encourage all
students to study material for upcoming tests throughout the week
and weekends. Do not wait until the last minute to study. In
addition, please remember that the best way to study for math is
to work problems. The more you practice, the better you will
get. Be sure to rework all problems, especially ones with
which you had the most trouble.
Homework is very valuable to your education. It reinforces
the concepts you have learned in class. Five points will be
taken from the homework grade for each assignment missed.
Homework must be made up.
