How often should I practice?

Each student should practice on a daily basis for about 10-15
minutes. Sometimes this depends on the student and the amount of
homework that is assigned during the week from the other
teachers. If possible, on the weekend when the student has more
time, it is a very good time to begin practicing a new song. The
student should never wait until the night before (Wednesday) to
practice the song for the first time!

What if the student is having difficulty performing on the recorder?

Mrs. Ford is always available to work with a student after school
from 3:15-3:30 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays. The student simply
has to see me in the morning to let me know that they are having
trouble and I will be happy to help them figure out what is going
wrong with the song. Of course, they need to have their recorder
and book!

What happens to the student when they foget their recorder and book?

They will have it notated in their planner and the
parent/guardian should sign it for the next school day. Also,
they are missing the opportunity to perform with other students
during class time. This really does help when the student has
practiced, but is uncertain of how the tempo and melody sounds in
the song.

What is the consequence if the student forgets materials too often?

After three times the student will receive a deficiency
indicating the lack of participation and effort in class showing
they have earned an "N" on their report card. After five times
a "U" will be credited to their grade for the quarter.
