I am the 3rd oldest of 11 children! I graduated from the University of
Wisconsin, and will be teaching second grade for the 10th year at MHR.
I previously taught grades 6, 7 and 8 in a three room country school
house in Wisconsin. My husband, Al and I, moved to Tampa in May of 1989, due
to a job transfer with his employer, Fireman's Fund Insurance Company. He
has been with the company for over 22 years. Our daughter, Cassie, teaches
8th grade at Guinta Middle School in Riverview. She is also an "AVID"
teacher, a new program for Hillsborough County Public Schools funded by Bill
and Melinda Gates. She will also be the "Subject Area Leader" for Language
Arts at Guinta this coming year. She recently earned her Master's Degree in
Educational Leadership at USF. This past summer was spent in Ardeche, France
where she camped and worked as a counselor for Village Camps. Our son, Joe,
graduated from Jesuit, and Thomas Aquinas College in Santa Paula,
California. He also recently returned from travels to Prague, Austria and
Tatabanya, Hungary where he taught English as a second language. Joe
currently lives in Tallahassee. Greg, a graduate of Jesuit, is also currently
living in Tallahassee where he is earning a Business Degree from Flagler
College on the Tallahassee Community College Campus.
I am really excited about the new year, and look forward to working
with my new students and a new partner, Mrs. Kirschenman!
My goal is to teach my students the skills necessary to experience success
as second graders and to provide them with an environment which allows them
to grow spiritually, academically and socially.
