News and Notes

(Sorry if you received two email notifications this month - I wasn't sure if the first one went out.)

I wouldn't exactly say that April is the "cruelest" month of the school year, but it's definitely the busiest. Between Exhibition, FCAT, and the beginning of the end-of-the-year rush, there's no time to waste at Macfarlane!

FCAT
As you probably know, FCAT testing began this week with reading on Monday and Tuesday and math on Wednesday and Thursday. Science will be next Monday and Tuesday, and the Standford-10 will wrap up the testing season next Thursday with a math / reading double header.

It's EXTREMELY important that students get plenty of sleep and take any prescribed medications before testing! While they are academically ready to do well, testing days are long, and there were many droopy eyelids during the first session this morning. Please help your children show what they know by bringing them to school rested and ready to go!

Exhibition

We're also on the home stretch of our preparations for the 5th Grade PYP Exhibition. The groups are generally doing a good job with the many aspects of the project (research, social action, research paper, etc.), but there's still lots of work to do. Please ask what they're up to, and please be supportive if your child needs to meet with his/her group outside of school during the next couple of weeks.

And, of course, make plans to join us for our Exhibition celebration on the evening of Thursday, May 3rd!
