S.T.A.R. Binders

What is a S.T.A.R.?

·      A STAR is a binder that your child will carry to and from

·      school everyday this year.

·      STAR is an acronym for Students Taking Action & Responsibility.

·      The STAR will help your child stay organized and keep you in touch with our classroom.

S.T.A.R. Rules:

·      Take care of your STAR; it will be used all year!

·      Clean out the "Star Studded Work” pocket every evening.

·      Take your STAR home everyday and bring it back each morning.

·      Don't make any marks or drawings in or on your STAR.

What's in a S.T.A.R.?

Here is an overview of what is inside our STAR:

S.T.A.R. Binder Overview

Students Taking Action &  Responsibility

Front Pocket

Important Notes

IIn the front pocket of the binder you will find important papers from the school, teacher and/or PTA.  Please remove and read all of these papers promptly; they will keep you in touch with important news and events that are happening in our classroom and at McDonald Elementary.

If you need to send in a note, please place it in this pocket

Zipper Pouch

Money

This is where you should put all money to be brought to school (field trips, lunch, book orders) so it doesn't get "lost" in the bottom of the backpack. Students should take this money out once at school to turn in to the teacher. Lunch money should be kept in this pocket until lunch time.

First Clear Sleeve

Newsletter / Daily Schedule

In the first clear sleeve, you will find a copy of our weekly newsletter. This newsletter will include our weekly words and skills to be taught, as well as other important classroom information. On the backside of this sleeve, you will find our daily classroom schedule. Please note the time of our lunch and plan to come eat with your child occasionally if possible!

McDonald Agenda Book

The school agenda book will be where students keep track of their academic goals, record assignments and keep track of important notes.  Please review the agenda book with your child nightly.  When homework is given, there is a pocket in the agenda book to keep it in.

Second Clear Sleeve

O.S.C.A.R.S. Club

In the third clear sleeve you will find a list of O.S.C.A.R.S. Club activities.  The O.S.C.A.R.S. Club is completely optional.  It is a club for students who love learning and are motivated to take the initiative to challenge themselves!  O.S.C.A.R.S. Club activities are listed on our classroom website.

Back Pocket

Star Studded Work

In the LEFT pocket you will find class work that your child has completed and is ready to be “left” at home. This pocket should be cleaned out each evening. After you have "oooed and aahhed" over your child's work, I'm sure you will want to hang it on the refrigerator to ENJOY!

As we grow as 4th graders it may be necessary to add or delete pages/pockets from our S.T.A.R. BindersJ
