NEW IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING SCIENCE AND MATH FCAT EXPLORER
SCIENCE and MATH FCAT EXPLORER is READY for all students to begin
participation of the program. All students have received their User Name/
Password and has be placed by their teacher on the 1st page of their school's
agenda. FCAT EXPLORER is for a GRADE! Students will receive an academic
grade for their percentage of questions answered correctly. Students should
be actively (weekly) working on FCAT Explorer at home. Lack of participation
and/or completing the FCAT Explorer requirement for Science and Math will
result in (1) academic grade of and "F".
Dear Parents and Students,
Welcome to Fifth Grade! I hope you have had a restful summer and are ready
for an exciting new school year. I would like to take this opportunity to
introduce myself. My name is Mrs. Sarria, and I will your child’s 5th grade
science teacher for the 2009-2010 school year. I am a certified teacher
with
17 years of experience in the educational field. I believe in motivating,
challenging, and encouraging children to be the best they can be. My
classroom will be a safe, comfortable, and exciting place where your child
will learn new concepts and theories in interesting ways. This course will
prepare your child for the FCAT Science portion of the 5th grade science
test.
Students will attend science class daily for an hour. Home Learning
assignments will be given daily. Your child will be expected to return all
home learning assignments each day. Failure to complete assignments will
affect their academic grade and effort. Special projects will also be given

• 1 composition notebook (labeled SCIENCE)
• 1 Green Duo-Tang folder with clasps and pockets (labeled SCIENCE HOME
LEARNING AND WORK)
• Notebook (for the Green Folder)
• 1 red pen
• 2 blue or black pens
• 2 sharpened pencils
• 1 closed sharpener
